It works in any slot. It works in the //e. Handy for debugging if you wrote some custom firmware. Personally, I use a RAM card instead of a firmware card since I can load whatever "ROM" I want into it (It's been a while since I used it, but IIRC, the card I used has 'write protect' and 'force active' soft switches so you can use it as if it were a ROM card after loading it).
