You're making me envious. Jealous that you still have access to the "gold old days". The last time I had shell access was through a University, and they offered everything. If you needed LaTeX, they had it. I just downloaded the PostScript file and dumped it to the printer when I needed to submit my work. If you needed Maple (highend mathematics software) they had it. They had about a dozen highend packages aside from Maple too! Centralised computing services were great when you didn't have to pay by the minute, because you received all of the software and none of the headaches. Yeah, some people are lazy and will just leave the quoted text from several messages in a thread at the bottom of their message. That is disgusting in my humble opinion. But if the server is rejecting your message, it should also tell you why. That way you can fix it.
