That's doubtful. Given that the platform has a few hundred active
users, there is no financial incentive in it. Worse yet, there is
a financial disincentive since you end up paying through the nose
to do anything.

For example, you want to develop software. Opus ][ is about $100,
a 4 MB RAM card would be nice for Opus ][ (add $45), a hard drive
is nice too (add $100 for the controller), then there is the
documentation (the Toolbox reference is $135, plus additional books
if you need more hardware oriented materials). We're already up
to $380. Say $400 if the computer, monitor, and floppy drives were
twenty bucks. Given the speed of the Orca compilers, you will
probably want a TWGS/ZipGS or to host the developer tools on an
emulator on another machine, costing $200 (accelerator) or free
(emulator).

You probably won't recover your costs, nevermind the value of your
time, so you'll probably see more initiated project that never see
the light of day than anything else.

Why is this? Does the memory expansion slot give you direct access
to the address and data lines, and you have to make sure you don't
interfere with system memory areas?

I'm not trying to mess with you in the hardware design area, but
you are free to educate me if you wish.

For the last five years, I pretty much have been because of this
attitude.

I'm not.
