Bart,

IIRC, memory problems were reported when 1.49 came out (at least, I reported
it). There was no problem loading 1.60b1 on the P75 with 40 MB RAM and it
works like a charm. Incidently, I am running Arachne on the P75 without a
RAM disk, but *with* Smartdrv caching.

I have been using Arachne since 1.40 and other than not upgrading a couple of
1.4x releases occasionally, it has been running fine on both computers.
Because of the (apparent) memory problems on the 586/133, I have not upgraded
on that computer since 1.48, although I did try 1.49 which had the problems.
Did not try 1.50 because (a) there were some problems with the version
initially released, (b) I knew that I had memory problems with 1.49, so I
figured that I would also have memory problems with 1.50, and, (c) 1.48
worked satisfactorily as far as I was concerned.

OS on the 586/133 is MS-DOS 5.0; on the P75 it is MS-DOS 6.22.

I agree with you, that if the computer connects, the modem and port settings
must be good. See my immediate previous post to Steve Evans regarding
Compuserve requiring 7E1 and not working with 8N1.

Roger,

How come no-one before mentioned trouble loading on p75 or 586/133 before?
What OS are you using?

Steve,

Have you tried checking "use bootp" in the external dialer setup yet?
(I got a load error due to insufficient memory with 1.60, bootp was the
solution)

(if the package driver loads, modem and port settings must be good)
