AFAIK, all other free ISP here in USA require Win9x/IE/Netscape
(or Mac with similar configuration) and supplementary proprietary
software that works in conjunction with the browser to display
advertisements and also (I think this part is correct) enforce the
requirement that you not disable the ads by notifying the ISP if you
do this, thus putting you in violation of the terms of service (TOS)
and jeopardizing your access to the service. I do not know how things
work in Oz as far as local dialing charges, but here local calls are
unlimited and unmetered. Thus with the combination of FreeWWWeb and a
local dialup number a non-Win9x/Mac user can have free internet
access.
