Hi Neil;
Just because one program works well doesn't mean that another will.
Certainly, in the case of EPPPD, we have regularly seen it unable
to find a COM port that MINITERM has just used. <G>
I would guess that the author hadn't thought of a possible gap in
the bios comm list.
