Hello List,
Two years ago I bought a new printer: Xerox J5 and paid just over a 100
dollars.
Last year the ink cartridge was empty and the special cartridge was not
in the shops... HP, Cannon, all kinds but no Xerox.
Well the shopowner ordered a cartridge and I had to pay just under a 100
dollars. (Just black ink, no color)
So you buy a cartridge and you will get a printer for abt. free!
Very nice!
Recently the cartridge was empty again and because we Europeans have
been forced to use fancy euro-money (the politicians did not ask for our
consent... but asured us 'value for money') a new cartridge would now
cost about 25% more... so even more than a printer!
HP users even have a bigger problem: HP made the cartridges smaller
but the price did go up!
Well... I went to a stationary and bought a bottle of fountainpen ink.
60ml for $3,= , pinched a small hole into the cartridge and filled the
thing with the ink by an injection needle. {SHEAFFER 'Skip' ink}
Oh Boy, beautifull printing page after page...
Counting a bit:
about 100ml ink in the cartridge for $100,= that makes $1000/liter.
SHEAFFER ink $3,=/60ml makes $48,=/liter.
And IF the warrantee on your printer is gone by using your own ink, well
just get yourself a new 'free' printer.
{PS The printing process is done by thermal action =vaporisation= of
the water in the ink... so water based fountainpen ink is just
fine. Put a plastic tape over the hole after the filling of the
cartridge and choose your favorite ink color.}
Any complaints... not to me, please {:-)
Happy printing. Bastiaan
