I don't know how I can prove it to you either ... because my sig block
is rewritten by Arachne!  But I will try ...  I will replace the < >
which tells Arachne it's a tag with curly brackets { } and see if it
comes through to a message page the way I have it written

The only editing in my sign.txt file above is the replacement of tag <>
with the curly brackets.  I noticed that on a mailing list I'm on which
has the above appended to each messsage; I thought the problem was with
the mailing list or the person who had added it to the format!

I've only noticed that behavior, putting stuff where it doesn't belong
around a URL, in 1.61 ... but I never paid that much attention to URLs
in sigs before so I don't know how long Arachne has been doing that.
