>I could not access my pop3 mail server and did not try smtp. The
trick of using the other DNS addresses (I used MSN's DNS numbers)
works fine for surfing. If you use the original FreeWWWeb DNS numbers
you can't go anywhere but to the Juno welcome page.

I was able to reach http://freewwweb.snap.com as normal July 22 (0600 GMT), but
http://home.freewwweb.com redirected to a different destination this time:
welcomefw.juno.com, that site was not accessible. I was using DOS Lynx386.
Since http://home.freewwweb.com redirected to freewwweb.snap.com, I used that
latter "home page" to save a step, figuring that was the actual home page. This
was using DOSPPPD (EPPPD & CHAT) dialer from OS/2 Warp 4 VDM. Reason for
dialing from DOS was to see if Arachne 1.66 for DOS was ready. Trying to access
news server news.freewwweb.com produced the error message "Remote host reset
connection", and then trying to access pop3.freewwweb.com froze the computer.
After rebooting, I found the date was July 22. 1994, which I promptly reset at
the command prompt. I have never known Arachne to alter the date when crashing,
but DOS Lynx386 and UKA_PPP 1.7x1 have changed the year to 1994 or 2094, so now
I check the date every time after rebooting following a DOS Internet program
crash.

My DOS dialer .BAT file for Freewwweb puts the regular Freewwweb DNS IP numbers
in WATTCP,CFG. http://freewwweb.snap.com worked like normal, but not
http://freewwweb.home.com.

Does anybody know what will happen to Freewwweb SMTP and POP3 servers with the
acquisition by Juno? What about the news server? Is there any news.juno.com
or anything comparable? Does Juno have POP3 and SMTP, or only a proprietary
interface?
