Dear Clarence,

>Can anyone tell me what kind of luck they had with the XPDF APM ?

It converts PDF to plain text. This is a very valuable feature.
Unfortunately the programme partly fails with Czech alphabet. So I
am still searching for an alternative (rather waiting for a new
version, but I am afraid there will be no upgrade for DOS).

Does anybody know a program that strips the text out of PDF format?
Even the heavy WIN Adobe Acrobat 3.0 reader is not able to convert to
text, it only prints. My attempts to put the whole contents to the
WIN clipboard failed.

>Did it install correctly ? Did you have a problem ?

The link from the A. download page seems not to work presently (?)

I do not like installing Arachne's add-ons with the APM auto-install
procedure, mainly because everything ends up in the main Arachne
directory $e. So all new applications, even those needed quite
rarely, would blow up my RAM disk where Arachne is running. I prefer
to extract the packages manually and then add large unfrequently
needed programmes to a hard disk directory and the really important
and speed critical files to Arachne's RAM disk. Of course in this
case you need to check the directories in MIME.CFG.

>What line does it add to mime.cfg ?

Have a look at the file apm.id! Reading this you will be
able to install everything manually.

With best regards
