Oh, I didn't say I *NEVER* used the mouse; I just can't use it if I intend
to use the modem. The unit has Windows installed on it, and while there are
keyboard methods of doing everything in Windows, using a mouse is easier.
So as long as there's no conflict, I'd just as soon keep the MOUSE
instruction in AUTOEXEC.BAT.

However, I have created a separate CONFIG.SYS for use with Arachne, to
create a ramdrive on which Arachne can then be loaded. I also wrote a .BAT
file to switch between the CONFIG.SYS files; it does some renaming and the
proper CONFIG.SYS is ready to go. I suppose I could do an alternate
AUTOEXEC without the mouse command and use the same .BAT file to switch
between both the Arachne-friendly AUTOEXEC & CONFIG on the one hand, and the
regular mouse-friendly, no ramdrive AUTOEXEC & CONFIG on the other. Hmm....

Still, when I don't have the GUI interface loaded, I don't have a memory
problem with Arachne. I have to manually exit the GUI before going to
Arachne, which is just an extra step. I suppose if I'm writing a separate
AUTOEXEC simply for Arachne, I could design one that doesn't load the GUI,
but does load Arachne. HHMMMMM.........
