No, I didn't think of trying that. I would not have thought it should
even be necessary after unloading the mouse driver. I was very surprised
to discover that I had to remark out the line that loads my mouse driver
in AUTOEXEC.BAT and then re-boot. The configuration and setup section
of my computer-to-computer null-modem communications program provides for
specifying the com ports and baud rate and it also offers a choice of error
checking routines, whether to use CRC checks or check-sum. BTW, the name
of the program is FastLynx, Payware by Rupp Technologies. The package
includes the null-modem cable with Y-adapters for both 9-pin and 25-pin
serial ports. The program runs in native DOS. It works fine and it costs
only slightly more than the included hardware is worth. About $20.00.
Hardware and software not sold separately. You have to get the whole
package deal.)
I can't try out your suggestion at this time because the computer from
which I transferred the files is not anywhere near my current location.
