Right, after all the hints and software I received yesterdayhere's the result:
1: A better way to get to dos from win95 startup menu after editing
msdos.sys (in the rootdir of the hostdrive, if using drvspace, mind hidden
readonly system attribs) to set startgui=0 (this makes my previously posted
workaround "lh %comspec%" obsolete. saves 7 kB
2: Prevent automatic loading of setver and ifshlp by setting
"dos=high, umb, noauto" in config.sys. saves also about 7 kB
3: CTmouse is about 4 kB, which is just a fraction of the 27 kB logitech
driver I used before.
4: LSPPP is about 27 kB, instead of 70 kB epppd
It was past 04:00 when I got all this to work, so now I'm still about to
start fine-tuning it all.
Of course it took some reconfiguration to keep win95 useably running, after
steps 1 and 2: The :win label in autoexec gets an explicit
"c:\windows\win.com", I created a win.bat to intercept any win commands
through the path, because configurations without ifshlp have trouble with
32 bit filesystem (or at least I guess that's it, because 32 bit virtual
memory disk acces under win3.11 required ifshlp). Win.bat should just
reboot the system.
Configuring lsppp goes very easy using Joe Da Silva's lspppcfg.exe
See lspppcfg.doc:

As you see this mail comes out of Eudora, just because I keep my mail
filters consistent and I'll re-login with Arachne to get mail from
pop.dds.nl (a nice, free, Unix/Pine/Lynx based bi-lingual provider at
http://www.dds.nl, which really dates back to be THE first free internet
provider in the Netherlands; telnet:dds.dds.nl)
(please keep sending direct mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED], I just temporarely
subscribed [EMAIL PROTECTED] to the arachne list)
I'll be back...
