Hi Tom
I believe that Microsoft deliberarely lets piracy loose in some markets
so that they keep using Microsoft products, so they keep a strangehold
of such markets. They could have easily implemented registration at the time
W98 started with automatic update through internet. If everybody here
had to pay U$ 250 or so for Windows, I am sure a lot of people would
go for Linux , DOS or something else. But if we are using Windows now
it seems reasonable to expect that we will keep using Windows in the
future.
