As for accssing SCSI stuff ... some adapters may need to be tweaked in
certain ways to handle some Linux stuff, IIRC And could you advise
which device you have the CD-ROM set up as?
You see, with all the SCSI adapters I've had, device addresses 0 and 1
are restricted to HDDs, and you must go to 2-6 for other types of
devices. The "zip" drive can probably get away with being placed on a
HDD address, since you *can* boot from them ... but the CD-ROM may not
speak the right language and may need to set for a different address.

My CD-ROM SCSI ID is 2 (adjustable to anything from 0 to 7), Zip 250 SCSI ID is
5 (adjustable to 5 or 6). So SCSI Zip drive can't be bootable on SCSI card that
only allows booting from SCSI ID 0, 1 or 2. I see newer SCSI cards don't have
this restriction. As for why computer hangs when I try to mount the SCSI
CD-ROM, I guess the NCR5380 Linux driver for the Trantor T130B SCSI is buggy.
It's been variable in the past.
