No. The attack was clearly a crime against humanity. The World
Trade Center was not a military target. The World Trade Center
was a 110 story office building located in the heart of our second
largest city. Almost all the people working there and doing
business there were innocent civilians. Most corporations and other
businesses that were maintaining offices there were not in any way
closely associated with the so-called "military industrial complex" of
the US. Many of the offices there were leased by foreign businesses.
The Pentagon was a military target. Even if the terrorist
organizations did feel justified in attacking it, they could not have
felt justified under the laws of any civilized peoples in the methods
to which they resorted for carrying out the attack. They hijacked
a commercial airliner laden with fuel and loaded with innocent
civilian passengers. Then they used this as a weapon to crash it into
the building. This is most clearly the act of a most depraved,
sociopathic, and criminal band of barbarian marauders. To protect
civilized society from their kind, they must either be exterminated or
put into cages. I don't think there is any hope for ever reforming
them. There is no other side of the matter to see.

The Japanese kamikaze pilots of WWII were far more respectable than
these barbarians who carried out the attacks of last Tuesday. The
kamikaze pilots attacked only legitimate military targets. In doing
so they committed no crimes under International Law. Although they
all tried gallantly and bravely to accomplish their missions, a few
of them who failed crashed into the ocean, were rescued, and survived.
After the war they were repatriated. None were charged with war
crimes. Although I cannot agree with the mind-set of the Japanese
kamikaze pilot, I can respect it, and I will say that it is not of a
criminal nature.
