No. Just because Windows can do it soesn't necessarily mean that
DOS can do it. If the cell phone were to behave like a brain-dead
WinModem, then only Windows could do it. Fortunately the cell phone
acts as a real modem. I had to discover that for myself. The owner's
manual should have explained that it works as a real modem. Since the
manual tells only of how it will work with Windows, I had thought that
it would work only with Windows. It was only by trying it with a DOS
application that I was able to discover that it works as a real modem.
The moral of this story is that if a device is advertised to be
compatible with Windows, and if the documentation provides no
information about whether it will work with DOS, that does not
necessarily mean that it is a "Windows only" device. You won't know
unless you try it.
