I am most surprised that using a different ISP would have solved
the problem. You probably did something else other than just
changing your ISP. When you tried connecting with the previous
ISP I would have suspected that you might have forgotten to see to
it that your PATH.CFG or your WATTCP.CFG file or whatever config
file is produced for you as a result of establishing your TCP/IP
connection failed to be found in the path specified by your
ARACHNE.CFG. However you dial up and connect it is very important
that the resulting config file be found by Arachne. See your
ARACHNE.CFG to find out where she is supposed to find it. Make
changes as appropriate and necessary. IMHO, you probably
unknowingly entered some appropriate changes when you set her up to
connect with a different ISP. You should check this out.

If you can run Arachne from a hard drive, I can't think of any
reason why you should have a problem running her from a ramdrive
with the same ISP, assuming of course that your ramdrive is big
enough and you have sufficient conventional DOS memory. If you
are having difficulties, then a bug will be found somewhere in
your setup and configuration files. The difficulty cannot be
attributed to some alleged quirkiness of the ISP.

All the best,

Sam Heywood
