>- Clarence Verge. >-- Using Arachne 1.66 on DSL. I downloaded and unzipped this file, not knowing what was in it, and found it was the same COMTOOL included with Arachne. So this something we all have already. Or was COMTOOL not included with earlier Arachnes? I currently have only the latest, which is 1.70 rel 3. MODEMTST.BAT failed to allow for expressing the COM port in terms of base address and IRQ, so I'd have to modify it to allow for these two parameters instead of one. Old modem was on base 0x2e8 IRQ 5 (COM4 was not recognized), new modem is on base 0xd400 IRQ 11, forget the COMn, as correctly determined by Ralf Brown's PCI program. But COMTOOL would not access this USRobotics modem at all, so I think I will have to send a bug report to its author, K.H Weiss, and hope his email address is still valid, [EMAIL PROTECTED] I downloaded CONEX 7.1 from Simtel, and was actually able to send AT commands to the USRobotics modem (as well as the old Diamond modem) and get the modem's response. CONEX 7.1 can do much more than COMTOOL but is more elaborate to set up.
