Yes, I use XF86Setup myself.  However, adding the x332set package 
(and the x332vg16 package that it requires) to the suggested X
installation for BasicLinux would increase the size by 2.5meg.  
This seemed a rather heavy price to pay (when xf86config is
available for free).

Not at all.  It is compatible with BasicLinux.  A good option for 
anybody having trouble with xf86config.
