i don't know what changes happened in python 2.4.2->.3 but probably it 
si a minor update. in theory, maintaining pkgs means one needs to 
check all pkgs that depend on the pkg in question (pacman -Qi 
package -> the "Required by" field). i'm sure dorphell will update 
python in near future, if it's not breaking anything as you are 
saying.

the openssl is for sure different. i know that it will break lots of 
things, as it is happening for every mayor openssl update involving 
all other maintainers to rebuild the packages affected... we will 
have to make a schedule and do it somewhen in the devland. stay 
tuned. (we are doing this in our free time without getting any money)
