That's alright, but it might be an idea to hold off going with initrd, until it becomes clear what's happenin. Moving 2.6.17 in, would mean moving in gcc4.1, and then almost everything else in testing. This should happen soonish, so you may be best to wait, especially with the gcc update sittin there.
