Greetings all,

We are an open source focused data and dev team called Flax & Teal, based
in Belfast, NI - we do web, geospatial and open data analysis. We link into
a local open tech group, Avata Industries, with design, development,
training, numerical analysis, communications and security specialists.

What is your interest in Arches?

We have grown by building open source tools for public sector data, with
PostGIS, Python and Leaflet, so Arches has been a natural step. Even more,
we were looking at various ways to support the museum sector, so we are
keen to see how we can work in with the Arches community! Alongside this,
our Kubernetes, VueJS and data science projects give us wider open data
interests - we want to explore intercompatibility with Arches in a number
of ways.

Where am I working?

Working in Belfast, we are never far from significant heritage sites!
Currently based in Weavers Court, we are working out of the “Half Day”
school - this was built in the 1800s, where children would study before
heading to work in the Albion Clothing factory. Nowadays, it is the home of
a tech community called Farset Labs, with a number of projects, companies
and start-ups in the mix.

What can I see out the window?

The Europa Hotel, one of Belfast’s most iconic 20th century landmarks, and
if I stand on my chair I can see the top of the Grand Opera House, designed
by theatre architect Frank Matcham and opened on 23 December 1895.

With best wishes,
Phil
