I take it you don't necessarily mean favorite books but books that stay on
our minds, whether we liked them or not. This may take some thought
but the first book that popped into my mind was Sparrow by Mary
Doria Russell. It wrung me out emotionally but was fascinating. There
are a lot of books that I loved but I hesitate to mention them because
I don't think they belong here. I will add Anne Rice because I thought
her first books were unique and they opened up a whole new world for me.
Anne Rivers Siddons and Rosamunde Pilcher introduced me to books
where the locations of the books were every bit as strong as
characters as the people themselves. Janet Evanovich's Stephanie
Plum books will always be remembered for their humor and great
characterization. Of course I have to mention the Anita Blake books
as my favorites because all my favorite and not so favorite monsters
are together under one cover. Laurell K. Hamilton had a way of
writing that made her sentences quotable. Her writing style is
very unique. I wish I could think of books that effected me like Sparrow
did but I'm drawing a blank, though I know there were more.
