Hi Kishor,

Thanks for your feedback...but my point was not whether Aditi was a masterpiece
or not...what I meant was that the director of the film felt that the song was
apt for the movie. It might not be a masterpiece like you said but it felt
right for that scene. And that is what matters. In fact, I personally liked the
song and the way it was picturised...but that's beside the point.

I agree with you that time is important in producing good music but lack of
time alone is not a hindrance for a composer, esp ARR from producing good
music. What's more important is understanding between the director and the
composer. When a composer could understand the needs of a director and be
inspired by him, only then a good composition could be produced.

You did mention that ARR's best work can be seen in Maniratnam's and Shankar's
films...I totally agree... but are you seriously implying that the REAL reason
why ARR could give his best in their films is because both Mani and
Shankar gave him ample of time and freedom and others didn't? That, I got to
disagree...in fact, more than anything...I feel that Mani and Shankar are able
to bring the best out of ARR because 1)they were very clear in the genre of
music they need for their films and 2) they inspire ARR to produce such
masterpieces through their script, screenplay or even the way they narate a
particular scene.

The point I'm trying to make is, everyone knows that ARR is capable of
producing compositions like Nenjinile, or Ennavale or a Mitwa but even then he
need directors like Mani, Shankar and Ashutosh to inspire him to produce the
said songs.

TIME has changed Gayathri.. In 1994-1995, ARR was young, and he was a new
composer. He had a lot of sample compositions in various genres, which he
composed before he ventured into films. He had a lot of such sample
compositions, and he found space for them in films, improvised them and made
them fresh compositions, to suit the mood of the film. TIME has changed.. From
1996 onwards, its a different story....And  Now ARR is a very busy and
INTERNATIONAL ACKNOWLEDGED global musician..

He seldom composes for ads..Hence he neednt keep any old sample works(He still
has some though)..

Gayathri, ARR himself has said many times, that he NEEDS time and freedom to
bring out MASTERPIECES. .
And the DIrectors who support him with both these factors are Shankar and Mani
Ratnam...

Hence many of ARR's BIGGEST MASTERPIECES are found in their films.

PPL  labelling Kabhi Kabhi Aditi as a MASTERPIECE. .. I would tell u, that by
doing this, U are degrading the REAL MASTERPIECES like BOMBAY, KAHDALAN, JEANS,
DIL SE, ROJA, THIRUDA THIRUDA, LAGAAN, KANNATHIL MUTHAMITTAAL, GURU, SWADES,
RANG DE BASANTI, BOYS, ADA etc.....

Think deeply.. guys..before u talk..
