Infact when i bought Yuvraaj CD i had the same observation. But then usually
its your presets in your audio system that makes the difference. Some home
theatres come with this 'auto-caliberate' feature which does not suit most CD
materials. They get optimised for DVD Dolby Digitial/5.1 performance. So the
systems always looks for such stuff and messes up. I have a fairly high end
Sony Home Theatre and i have manually caliberated for cripser output, it sound
awesome now Use these quick tips

        * If you are playing the CD in a PC CD player, u can easily EQ it and
find more layers in the track. But PC CD player sucks. Rip and play MP3 in Jet
Audio.
        * If you have a stand alone CD player like a Hi-FI system, choose
'Jazz' mode if you have one. That works best. Many choose the 'dance' mode and
then you have this booming effect
        * If you have a home theatre with 5.1 then manually caliverabe with 1
to 1.5 dB more to rear right and rear left. This gives you a more crispper
treble. Reduce LFE ( Sub-woofer) by 1 dB. Dont worry you will still have ample
thump in the CD track
        * Select Auto mode. Not pro-logic, DTS etc. CD is a stereo output.
        * If you have a 7.1. Forget it. Do everything for 5.1. There is nothing
like 7.1!! Mid right and Rear right copy each other and so to the lefts
Also when you have sub-woofer, dont duck it into a corner. Keep 1Ft distance
between walls, all 3 sides.

All this is assuming you are playing original audio CD. Not MP3, even
320Kbps.Its still Mp3

However, one thing i am certain about. The audio clarity overall is far superior
when Rahman tracks come out in Sony Music. T-series is usually little weak. I
think these guys compress ( not shrink, but making it 'louder') the master
before they press the discs. This kills some interesting layers that Rahman
builds.

Do this test : Keep a volume level static say 20. Play Vandematarm original
Sony Music, then play Meenaxi original from Sony. Now play Gajini. Notice how
loud Gajini sounds. Its T-series doin this. Not the studio master.

I really think Rahman should go with Sony or Universal.

Anyways, this is my take fellas..

what ya say?

Subject: [arr] 'Blue' Sound/Audio Quality - "Dissapointed"

One of the reasons for me to appreciate AR's music was the superb quality his
songs had - i am referring to the 'sound' quality.

Off late, I have felt that his songs were lacking the clarity it had. One of
the most beautiful songs in a major album this year had an error, which was
pointed out in this forum & was acknowledged by his team too (not in this
forum). I am not sure if it is the Sound Engineers or the programmers.

The 'sound' of Blue in the CD is, in fact, pathetic. It more sounds like a
studio version (work in progress) - unclear vocals, boomy sounds for chiggy
wiggy (which is muffling the instrument before Sonu starts singing). The vocals
are extremely bad....

Not sure if it is a problem in the final mix/mastering or a problem @ T-Series.

I am disturbed because of this trend, and more worried coz things are not being
set right. With every album, I have hoped the sound would be 'better'. but it
has never been.
Is ARR not looking into the final product? I dont think so, 'coz the beauty of
the sound is compromised on.

And I am not in for a debate here.
