Unfortunately AssectCenter and ServiceCenter don't use the
same DB model....Tony is right...ServiceCenter uses a proprietary flat file DB
that doesn't have an ODBC for it...they only way I know of to get information
out of it is the shadowing that you mention...then once you get it into an
actual DB you can simply export it

Subject: Re: Exporting from ServiceCenter?
When we migrated from Peregrine AssetCenter (which I
suspect will be similar to ServiceCenter), we simply used the ODBC driver to
connect to the DB through MS Access. We then did some data massaging and
exported that data into .csv format, which we then imported into temporary
Remedy forms with Remedy Import. We created workflow to push the data to the
proper places in the ITSM AM suite. It took a while to understand all of the
data columns in Peregrine and how they should map to Remedy, but it was a
relatively intuitive process.

Subject: Exporting from ServiceCenter?
Does anyone out there have experience exporting data from HP/Peregrine ServiceCenter to a format usable by Remedy Import (or vendor forms, whatever.)
I'm not at all familiar with ServiceCenter, but it sounds as if the data is stored in a proprietary P4 database and one of the only ways to get at it is through a process called "shadowing" where the data is copied into an rdbms -- and the mapping has to be manually created and the tables/columns mapped.
Unfortunately we have no support, nor do we have access to the servicecenter kb/faq/downloads etc.
If it matters, we're at version 4.0 of the apps, and 5.1 of the binaries.
Any suggestions?
fun fun,
tony
