Brad, I hate to say this, but BMC has a history of using older versions of things...not that they are 'old' at the time they start using them, but by the time they hit production, they are typically moderately old, and they don't work aggressively to stay up to date on the newer versions and adjusting the compatibility. There is a version of Pentaho released with 9.0 that, as I understand it, is about 3 years old, and 9.0 just came out....so, if BMC states that you need to use a specific version, that's the version I would use....and contact BMC and petition them to upgrade the versions they are using as service packs/versions come out.
