Build 3 is SP4, Build 2 is sp2 (if I remember correctly), Build 1 is 9.1.00, so if you don't have build 3, I'm curious if it upgraded properly

LJ,

My registry keys are exactly the same... only my flashboards folder does not have flashd91_build003.jar it only has flashd91_build001.jar

same goes for arutil91_build003 i only have 001

I do have arapi91_build0003 and log4j.jar is actually named log4j-1.2.14

So there goes my problem....

Kevin,
I have a 9.1.04 server here....when I look in the registry (it's a windows machine), I have the following parameters set
JVM Option Number 0: -Djava.library.path=C:\PROGRA~1\BMCSOF~1\ARSystem\FLASHB~1
JVM Option Number 1: -Djava.class.path=C:\PROGRA~1\BMCSOF~1\ARSystem\FLASHB~1\flashd91_build003.jar;C:\PROGRA~1\BMCSOF~1\ARSystem\FLASHB~1\FlashboardAgent.jar;C:\PROGRA~1\BMCSOF~1\ARSystem\FLASHB~1\arapi91_build003.jar;C:\PROGRA~1\BMCSOF~1\ARSystem\FLASHB~1\arutil91_build003.jar;C:\PROGRA~1\BMCSOF~1\ARSystem\FLASHB~1\concurrent.jar;C:\PROGRA~1\BMCSOF~1\ARSystem\FLASHB~1\log4j.jar;C:\PROGRA~1\BMCSOF~1\ARSystem\FLASHB~1

You should be able to compare and contrast that with your system to see if there is anything missing, and verify that all of the files exist.

How can I map that LJ? :D

This along with a few other little issues that I can take care of here will seal the deal for me to upgrade our prod group.

That indicates that the classpath for the service isn't mapped properly to find the flashboard server.

Thank you for this FAQ, I have been internally doing my own notes of issues I encountered. Some mistakes. some misunderstandings, some our customizations having problems but mostly everything is addressed and the environment has been stable for over 24 hours now.

The only service right now that is not working at all if Flashboards server. it simply will not start. We do not use it so its not that big of a deal but its nice to see everything eventually running well. Below is that error. any input anyone?

That’s great. Thanks for the feedback Kevin. I am not sure about the assignee issue, but here is one additional detail that I want to clarify regarding operating mode. This is based on some private feedback I received ☺

• If your system has only AR installed and not CMDB/AI, AR upgrade installer itself will reset Operating Mode for you.

• If your system has AR+CMDB installed and not AI, CMDB upgrade installer will reset Operating Mode for you.

• Only if your system has all 3 i.e. AR+CMDB+AI installed, it’s the duty of AI upgrade installer to reset the Operating Mode.

Note: Check for CMDB and AI components is done via entries in SHARE:Application_Properties form.

Hope this gives additional clarity and avoids any confusion that anyone may have.

Having said this, there are a few changes in 9.1.04 that change behaviour of the install/upgrades and I strongly encourage people on this list to go through some FAQs that we put together for 9.1.04 release: https://docs.bmc.com/docs/brid91/en/troubleshooting-installer-failure-during-upgrade-674785597.html#Troubleshootinginstallerfailureduringupgrade-Frequentlyaskedquestions

Thanks and Regards,
Ashutosh.

Thanks Ashutosh,

I realized that was the case after AI went on and everything was normal. So far everything with my upgrade is stable after some trial and error. The only issue I'm having is I am not able to see assignee values when trying to assign an incident manually to someone. It will only show the current logged in user if he/she belongs to that group.

Hi Kevin, LJ,

The 9.1.04 AR installer doesn’t reset Operating Mode from 1 to 0 in case you also have CMDB and AI in your stack. It expects AR+CMDB+AI all 3 to be part of the platform and once all of them are upgraded on a given server, AI 9.1.04 installer resets back the operating mode. This is to ensure all 3 components are always on the same version, as they are not always fully backward compatible (due to local API and pentaho dependencies).

Thanks and Regards,
Ashutosh.

That would indicate that the upgrade to 9.1.04 didn't succeed properly if the operating mode was still 1...

Hello all,

I have a case with bmc as well but I figure I would ask here if anyone else may have experience this.

I have done the following:

Upgraded Midtier server to 9.1.04

Upgraded RSSO installation on Midtier to 9.1.04

Upgraded RSSO Integration to Midtier to 9.1.04

At this point everything was working fine, my ARServer was still 9.1.00 and I had no issues. I ran this midtier version for a few days and had no problems. In fact the midtier performed a lot faster. It was very nice.

Yesterday I upgraded ARSystem from 9.1.00 to 9.1.04

Upgraded RSSO integration on ARSystem from 9.1.00 to 9.1.04

ARSystem is online, RSSO seems to be working because I can still log on to Smart IT and Smart Reporting.

Logging in to ARSystem via Midtier gives me ARERR 623. The logs all say I authenticated and received my SAML token. The database is writing the token.

I have looked everywhere and all my configs seem to be accurate and correct.

Any ideas?
