Make sure your old 9x client isn't in the path anymore. Try removing your sqlnet.ora if you have one (and it's not required)
NETCMN: invalid driver means: The login (connect) string contains an invalid driver designator. I pasted a copy of tnsnames.ora in the new 10g \Network\Admin folder, but am still getting the same error. tnsping shows the correct use of sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora, so that looks good.
