Make sure your old 9x client isn't in the path anymore.

Try removing your sqlnet.ora if you have one (and it's not required)

NETCMN: invalid driver means:
The login (connect) string contains an invalid driver designator. 

Make sure the tnsping you're using is the 10g (related to path above)

Try setting TNS_ADMIN or TWO_TASK and verify ORACLE_HOME

Thanks for the quick reply.  I pasted a copy of tnsnames.ora in the
new 10g \Network\Admin folder, but am still getting the same error.
tnsping shows the correct use of sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora, so that
looks good.

Not sure what to try next.
