Also, the ar.conf is going to contain the oracle home directory. You also have to make sure that arserver is seeing the 10g libs before it sees the 9i libs; this is probably accomplished with the PATH.

Make sure your old 9x client isn't in the path anymore. Try removing your sqlnet.ora if you have one (and it's not required) NETCMN: invalid driver means: The login (connect) string contains an invalid driver designator. Make sure the tnsping you're using is the 10g (related to path above) Try setting TNS_ADMIN or TWO_TASK and verify ORACLE_HOME good luck, tony -- Tony Worthington [EMAIL PROTECTED] 262-703-5911 Rick Phillips <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: "Action Request System discussion list(ARSList)" <[email protected]> 02/05/2007 11:58 AM Please respond to [email protected] To [email protected] cc Subject Re: Problems connecting to Oracle following 10g client install... Thanks for the quick reply. I pasted a copy of tnsnames.ora in the new 10g \Network\Admin folder, but am still getting the same error. tnsping shows the correct use of sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora, so that looks good. Not sure what to try next. rp On Feb 5, 12:13 pm, "Grooms, Frederick W" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Usually each client has it's own tnsnames.ora file.
