We did replace a failing hard drive that was about to fail but that was
after the crash. I will check on the arserver.exe. If a corrupted/failed
remedy file is the case what would be the best way to certify the files
are okay? Reinstall? Uninstall?

So the next question is: What else changed? Is it possible that a
seemingly unrelated change to the server might have caused this?

To be honest, my first thought was that something had corrupted a base
.dll or .exe or something. Are there some Windows logs (i.e. Event)
that might give a clue as to which file(s) have the problem? Also check
the Registry entries for AR System, and make sure that they at least
look reasonable.

It's a clean install that has been running fine for about 5 months.

Hate to be Mr. Obvious again, but have you recently attempted a server
upgrade?
