Julie,

We worked on our upgrade from ARS 6.3/ITSM 5.5 to ARS 7/ITSM 7 for many
months. We found that this is quite a large task and I would personally
recommend that you use a BMC Consulting Partner to help you with this
project. The applications are so greatly different from the the old
ITSM applications that the upgrade/implementation/data conversion will
seem like a monumental task. In the past my company has worked with
several BMC/Remedy partners and the only one that I would recommend for
this task is IT Prophets. I have included the contact information for
IT Prophets in the email. If you any specific questions for me, please
let me know.

Good Luck.

Subject: ITSM 7 - Upgrade advice?

**
We are starting to plan our upgrade from 6.3 to 7.x. (as well
corresponding
ARS and CMDB upgrades, and, to make things interesting, a move from
Oracle
db to SQL).

I know there are a lot of posts here with questions/answers/advice. Was

wondering if anyone had suggestion on how best to peruse those?

And/or I am also looking at BMC support site and have found some
webcasts
as well as WBT's that look interesting, so if there any suggestions on
other good information on that site, that would be welcome.

One thing we are trying to determine sooner than later is whether we
will
need consultant assistance with this or if we can do most on own (1
admin
with 2 yrs of experience, 1 new one).

Thank you,

Julie
