No, you should not lose queued email messages since they are simply
sitting in the form waiting to be processed.

The default Email Engine action on startup is to cache all of the email
addresses, etc. If you have a large number of accounts, it takes a
while for the email engine to start processing mail.

You will want to increase your Java memory limits (if you haven't done
so already). Also check the log files to see if you have any errors.

If needed, add this to your EmailDaemon.Properties file:

com.remedy.arsys.emaildaemon.FetchUserGroupInfoOnDemand=true

This tells the email engine to look them up as needed rather than trying
to cache them all up front and is recommended if you have a lot of
accounts (100,000 or more). I haven't noticed any real problem with
this setting and we've been using it for a couple of years.

Craig Carter, RSP

Subject: HELP - EMAIL Hosed

Hello All,

Help Desk 6.0

ArServer 7.01.01 Patch 003

Hello All,

My email is hosed, have 4K emails backed up. I have restarted the email
engine several times to no avail.

Also tried starting email from the cmd line, that used to work, but
now... nothing... if I restart the ARServer service will I lose all the
queued up existing emails?

I seem to remember that's the case. Going through email error message
logs now. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Jase Brandon
