Niklas,
The phrase "during ARS password changes and other such User form
updates" can be described as any data value in the User for was what
I saw as "slower then before". ('Email Address', 'Password', 'Default
Notify Mechanism', 'Group List', 'License Type', 'Full Text License
Type', 'Login Name', etc...)
Again... I believe that was due to slowness of my RDBMS and not
necessarily due to ARS slowness.
I however would also expect the RAM requirement for the ARS server and
for some secondary subsystems (like the Email Engine) to increase too.
Those components keep this data cached so they would be affected by
such a growth in the data.
And if you are still using a per v7 Mid-Tier then I think it would
also be affected due to the way it caches objects based on 'Group
List' combination too. (However, I have not tested it for performance
or RAM growth. But that is my expectations.)
