Question, was your 9i database upgraded from older version of Oracle? One
thing that you may miss out are some of the new data types that have been
introduced over the years.

It has been a while since I worked with Oracle but I remember one upgrade,
by creating a fresh install of ARS 6.3 and migrating defs from the old
system that was build on 4.x (not sure what version of Oracle it started
on), some of the fields converted to to newer data types. Sorry I don't
remember the specifics. Maybe one of them was CLOBs because we were able to
do wild card searches on the work log field on the new system.
