If the field is on another form, doesn't it usually give the field ID instead of the name, so he would get the following error: ARERR [330] You do not have write access to field : 7
This has been the case for me, but I'm not sure if it is 100% that it acts this way. Sree, first check to make sure the user has a proper license. If they are trying to modify a ticket someone else created, and you have submitter mode locked, and the user has a read only license, they will get exactly this error. I suspect this is probably the issue. If you have submitter mode locked, and the user has only a read license, they can modify their own tickets, however you must have Submitter write permission on the field, along with the allow any user to submit, as well as at least one explicit or dynamic permission group on the field with write access, all of these to which the user belongs. Also, if the user has a floating or fixed license, make sure that the user has a permission group that has write access to the field. I am willing to bet the user only has a read license though.
