James, On re-reading your post that may not be your problem - I hit the send button too early.. Your earlier errors indicate some sort of a missing library? You are probably working on an incompatible solaris version? Did you check the compatibility matrix for ARS 7.1?
Try the tweak I have suggested only if the compatibility matrix checks out..
