Laurie,
I agree that it sounds weird.  In our situation a number of users were 
affected, but not all.  Our web services worked intermittently as well. We 
messed around with it the better part of a day before deciding to restart 
everything.  The restart of Tomcat brought everything back.  I'm guessing 
something may have been wrong in Tomcat cache and the restart reloaded it. 
 Maybe a cache problem could affect a single user too?

Thank you for the reply, Dennis.  This is only happening with one user 
though so I wouldn't think a restart would make a difference...?
