Hey Roger, Would you mind sending to the list your current servers' configuration (processor speed, memory, etc). Is your database server separate from the apps server? Are you using the mid-tier? Do you have ITSM or custom apps or both? Are you using the CMDB, and if so are your running reconciliation jobs? Do you have a separate reporting server?
