I completely forgot about that recently added option to authenticate
unregistered users, so yes you may be right about that. I haven't really had
to use that option so am unable to comment about my experiences with that.

reference blank passwords, which is of course the user record with blank
password, but there is also the 'authenticate unregistered users'...this
option is available so that you can have users entirely NOT in Remedy but
still grant them permissions and such....I've used this before.  The only
requirement to have them have a record in the user table is if you want to
grant them a fixed license.

  This is used only in case you are using LDAP. Its called license masking
or something like that where you need to create these expected attributes in
LDAP and then configure them in the AREA LDAP Configuration form. For it to
work however you do require that user to have a record in the User form with
a blank password.
