Tweaking the JVM Heap Size to an optimum size on the server running the Mid-Tier is about the only major consideration apart from the fact that you may have to also account for number of users that would be using the application through the internet.. For a large user base you will need to consider a load balanced solution, with an appropriate number of servers behind a load balancer..
