I personally prefer to stay with the default Android browser, which is based on
webkit just like the iPhone browser. I think that unfortunately, what we
really need are JSP pages formatted for mobile environments from BMC. Even if
you got 100% of the functionality working, it's designed for a larger screen
that you interact with via keyboard and mouse rather than a tiny touch screen.
I personally would not suggest my users access ITSM via their phones even if it
all worked. While not free, there is a reason why companies sell mobile-based
Remedy clients. I just hope that eventually BMC will create mobile-friendly
JSP pages that don't require third party software.

Thanks,

Subject: Smartphone browser compatibility--Dolphin

**
Hello, Listers!

My team has been attempting to provide "free" smartphone support to our user
base. This weekend, I downloaded the Dolphin Browser V3.0 on my Android
device, which works well. I can open our production mid-tier and access our
Remedy incidents and changes. It does appear to have some issues interacting
with the mid-tier, however. First off, forms won't always scroll, so you have
to zoom wayyyy out to get to the bottom and right sides. Second, Page Holders
don't appear on all forms.

On the plus side, Dolphin is very sensitive to touch, so even when zoomed
wayyyy out, I can still click on the button I want. Crystal reports on the
mid-tier are beautiful with Dolphin! And if all else-fails, you can use the
mouse/rollerball to navigate.

Does anyone have an Android 2+ device who would be willing to test Dolphin
Browser HD with their system? I'm curious to see if Android 2+ and Dolphin HD
is more compatible with the mid-tier than my Android 1.6 and Dolphin 3.0.
