I understand that we can use filters to push to AST:AssetPeople (I've done this before), and could write my own AIE import job to do the same, but I can't believe that there isn't a OOB way of doing this that I haven't discovered. Terry

In my environment, I created a filter to do this automatically on "create" of a new CI. For bulk loading, you would have to do a similar mapping exercise. The key field is the recon ID mapping to the field on the AssetPeople form. You could find out what to map by running logging and looking at the OOB creation of that record. How are people importing "People" relationships (ie. Supported By, Owned By, etc.) via the AIE tool for a specific CI? I couldn't see a OOB method to do this through the tools that BMC provides via AIE. The "Supported By" relationships control who has edit capability to regular Asset User licensed users via ITSM Asset Management. Input? Perhaps AIE was too easy and just wasn't challenging enough? JDHood On Mon, Jun 27, 2011 at 1:25 PM, Francois Seegers <[email protected]> wrote: ** Hi Kali, Why not using the AIE? As for mandatory fields, first of all, manually create an entry on the form, and see which ones it demands (not many), then you'll need the data set id I mentioned below. So I just need to import in 1 form? For example, if I want to create a Computer System asset, I just need to import to the AST:ComputerSystem form? Also, how do I know which fields are mandatory and which ones will be automatically generated? (e.g. Should I just leave the Reconciliation ID and Instance Id fields blank?) The best method I've found to use is: 1) Create/Open the CSV and sanitise the data. 2) Open the ComputerSystem form in the user tool and work out which column on the CSV you want to go in to which field on the CS form. I then write the name of the field in a new row at the top of the sheet and work my way across the sheet. 3) If your not sure on the field names - open Dev Studio and cross check the field names with the actual name. I then write this in a further row at the top of the sheet. 4) Once finished I delete the unused column names, and then map in to the Data Import tool. Once you've done it a few times, you can get quite proficient at it !! You'll also need to include some mandatory fields as well such as status and data set ID. If yes, are there any documents around that offers a guide on what should be the values/columns used in the csv file and what forms should it be imported to? Thanks!
