Thanks - I'll give that a shot - I may not be able to get my machine up to
those specs without buying newer hardware so would need to check options
like Amazon private cloud, etc.

Subject: Re: OT: Setting up a demo environment on LINUX..

I am using VMs with Cent OS with Oracle and ITSM 7.6.04, 8.0, 8.1 all
running on a monster host machine (32 cores/64gb, 10k rpm drives) with ESXi
as the OS. I have never seen ITSM boot so fast :-)

Don't know about a script as it was really simple to build the machine.
Just follow the BMC instructions.

There are a couple of Oracle "gotchas" that appear later when you use DHCP
so I gave my machine 2 Ethernet cards, one with a fixed IP.

Cheers

Ben

It would be really cool to post the script along other details from youself
and other people that have done this as a BMC Communities document:

Hi,

It has never been free as far as I know.

I guess you can request a trial version.

The best way would probably to do it through one of your clients Support
Contract IDs, as they typically has no limit on the number of servers.

I have installed AR 8.1 on Scientific Linux (Red Hat Clone) with Oracle
without any problem.

I used Oracle XE which is free for small environments, and the full Oracle
Client to connect through, in order to fool the Remedy installer.

Mid-Tier + AR runs fine on 2GB memory in my VM, but I do not have ITSM
installed on that machine.

To run the installer you need X. I typically use Cygwin as X-server, and
then
do a ssh -X to the Linux server.

I have a detailed script I follow in order to make everything run smoothly,
so
if anyone is interested, let me know.
