I have read, and re-read, and re-read the references from FAQ#1, but I
still have no idea how to add a footer to FOP output pages.

That's like answering the question "how do I modify this C program to
do X?" with the statement "you have to learn C programming".
It's a bit of a tautology.
Can anybody provide any helpful hints links on how to modify FOP
output using XSL-FO?
