As long as it is in official and supported repo - it doesn't matter much
how this repo is named or distributed.

Gentoo used to install it to /usr/share/vim/vimfiles/syntax/asciidoc.vim
until install-vim target was removed from default. Default vim syntax is
installed at /usr/share/vim/vim74/syntax/asciidoc.vim, and thus version
installed with asciidoc into /vimfiles/ has higher priority. I don't see
anything wrong with this - version which packaged with vim itself is
usually outdated, not just for asciidoc, so this is a way to install
latest version using some extra package (in Gentoo it will be named
app-vim/asciidoc-syntax).
