Looks like your friends, themselves Indians, donot know what they are talking about. I have not seen anything in their statement which they tried to do to improve and failed. If you analyse, you will find that what they in fact are telling is that we Indians (including the friends) are bad, corrupt, divided on caste-religion, arrogant, unhygenic, and that Indians (including the friends) do not abide by law and order, do politics in works, etc etc. In light of above they are telling other Indians to stay away from India. I hope they are also telling this to their children.
There are many Indians who like to blame everything on Indians as if they themselves are above it. That itself is an Indian trait.
You should ask them if they are looking for brown pasture so that they can try to make these green, or if they are looking for green pasture so that being Indians they want to make these brown with their Indian characteristics. These Indians are always looking for green pasture, turn green by somebody else, so that they can make these brown.
Your friends are typical Indians. They deserve to stay and rot in India.
Let them rest in haven.
