Brute-force attacks have been a tried and true method for various types of 
attacks for decades.

Its not optimal, but if you have the time and processing power, why not.

Hello list,

This isn't strictly ASSP related, but I can't think of a better group of people 
to help me understand this problem, so here goes:

Imagine that my email domain is my.com.

ASSP logs are telling me that I am reciving mail for users that do not
(indeed could never) exist eg: [EMAIL PROTECTED] It appears that the sender is 
trying an infinite monkeys approach to hit valid email addresses.  Tracing the 
IP's of the senders reveals that the vast majority of them are from China.

What possible benefit could this be to the spammer? The chances of landing a 
correct address is akin to winning the lotto.  And even if I employed no 
anti-spam, my mail server would simply reject the mail.

I understand that it may be an attack,
