Come on, Andy. You know what I mean. Mailbag as a noun went out with
the pony express. Today, it is perfectly ok to use mailbagging as a
verb and I would hope most of the email admins on this list would know
what I'm talking about.

Specifically, my ISP serves as a backup mail server for my domain. If
my mail servers go down for any reason, my ISP mailbags for me OR holds
my mail until the time that my servers come back up. By removing them
as a secondary MX, they won't be able to offer this service to me.

The issue that I'm having is that they are holding mail for me that I
refuse to take from them. This causes a problem because it ends up back
on their server and will never be allowed to be delivered by my servers
but will continue to attempt delivery because I terminated the session
rather than telling them that I don't want the email.

I have tried putting them in the ISP MX field and have tried 'deliver
all mail' but neither of these fixes the issue. I have always had them
in the ISP MX field so that obviously does not result in a fix and
placing them in the deliver all mail allowed them to circumvent my local
addresses flat file so I'm in a quandary.

For the time being, I have asked them to stop mailbagging for me but
that is not a long term fix. My plans are to set up a local mailbag
server so I can see when mail starts backing up and to start
experimenting with the settings to see if I can find a solution that
will work for both me and my ISP.

I very much so appreciate the wisdom and guidance that I receive from
this list but really don't need any guidance in the proper use of the
English language. :-)

Thanks Again,
Evans Martin

Mailbag (noun) apparently used as a verb is pretty meaningless unless
you
define it, or rewrite it in commonly used and understood English

However, since the inbound mail will not be going anywhere near your
ISP's
servers the answer is almost certainly no, whatever that service might
be.
